BAILEBRAE

An Arizona couple, drawn to the lush greens and the ever-changing tides and temperament of the Atlantic ocean, decided to build a property in PEI, on a remote location with a private beach. This property serves a dual purpose: a sanctuary and vacation from the owners’ lives in Arizona and a rental property when they are away.

With these two functions in mind, the design needed to provide storage for the owners’ personal items, while not making guests feel intrusive. Luxury, comfort, durability, entertainment, and an interior that feels “PEI beach house” was important to the owners.

The home’s program is inverted, with the kitchen, dining, and living rooms on the second level to capture the best views. The carriage house offers additional storage to the homeowners and provides an in-law apartment for overflow in their personal use of the space and an added income to their rental.
